My son needs to design a toy using one or more simple machines. Any ideas?

We can use the lever, the pulley, the wheel and axle or the inclined plane. We cannot use any kind of building kit like legos or KNex. Must use what we have around the house and not spend any money. My son must be able to explain the simple machines used in the toy.

Catapults are awesome. Rubber bands, popsicle sticks and some type of fulcrum (pivot on the catpult). Egg crate section for the basket. Good luck…
