should they pay for the top?

my boyfreind brought me a £90 pound top for chrismas. He left it at his brothers house. His brothers girfreind who is a size 12 and iam a size 8. decided she would wear the top with out asking and has ruied it by streching it. my boyfreind said that they should pay 4 the top but they said they wouldn’t and are now not speaking with him. they are saying that they have no money and that they will have take the 3 month old sons christmas toys bk to pay the money bk. they are trying to make him feel bad. plus he blames me 4 the falling out as i encurraged him to stand up 4 him self and ask 4 the money bk. as he is a bit of a soft touch.i think they should pay 4 the top even if its only a bit each week. am i wrong.?

She should pay for the top. Your boyfriend is misplacing his anger by blaming you. She wore it without permission and damaged it. If you had lent it to her then I’d say you knew the risk but that wasn’t the case. They’re using the baby as a guilt trip to get out of paying what they owe. A 3mo old isn’t going to know it’s Christmas let alone remember if he got presents or not. It was your top, it’s up to you if you want them to pay. It really isn’t the bf’s decision. However, if it’s going to cause a rift or end a sibling relationship you’ll have to ask yourself if the top is really worth it. Best of luck!
