Target Toy Dept
Is Walmart a good place to work? I don’t want to work at a restaurant.?
I turn 17 on Jan. 22nd. I am attending my 2nd semester at college. I applied for a job there; they accepted me at first but then said that I have to be 18 to work there. They pay min. wage: $5.85. I absolutely have no work experience. I would like to earn extra money. I asked the employees at Walmart, some of them started at $6.20 and others at $7.00. Are these good pay rates? I applied at Target, JC Penny, Hobb Lobby, but got no response from them. The job offered to me is in Toys Dept. I met two managers, they seemed to be friendly with the other employees. Should I accept the job? If not, what are some good tips to get jobs at other places? Should I talk to managers after submitting applications?
If that is the job you are offered and you need work, accept it. It will give you experience for your resume if you want to look for something else later. I know some people who have worked at Walmart for years and like it very much. You won’t know until you try, and you have to start somewhere. Getting a little experience will probably bring more job offers later.
