Seen On Tv Toys

What should I tell my daughter who asks why Santa doesn’t deliver gifts to the poor and homeless?

My family celebrates Chanukah. Trying to avoid the commercialism of the holidays and to teach my daughter that not everyone gets toys like you see on tv, I’ve used this opportunity to teach of those less fortunate and the meaning of presents. However, my daughter (5 years) asked me why, if Santa goes to every house, don’t poor people get gifts? And, if they don’t have a house for a tree, where does Santa put the gifts? And, if Santa knows where you’re sleeping and knows when you’re awake, why can’t he find the homeless and deliver them presents? I’m at a loss on how to answer this one…any help??? Thank you!

This is so heartbreaking. I can only imagine how caring your family is that your daughter at five would be so compassionate. She is the first five year old t make me cry. Tell her that they couldn’t send santa a letter and help her write one to send on behalph of the poor and homeless. Then go and buy a toy and give it to toys for tots..let her pick it out. I think this will help her feel like she helped them. I can’t believe this I am bawling right now.Your child is special and she is going to great things. You have to be so proud of her. Happy Holidays……More people should think on your daughter’s level. It’s amazing to me that a five year old would so unselfishly think of other people that way. God bless you. I cannot stop crying.
