Is it normal for a mother still cling to toys for your child's memory?

My husband is 30 this year and his mother still has her tricycle and many of his toys as a baby and a toddler. It still has some of their clothing. He still has their bronze baby shoes on display in the living room, and it even has a lock of his hair (when I was a child) stored in a pouch. I think this is very strange. I could see maybe one or two things, but why still cling to this?

Oh yes HUN retain as much as possible, because they grow soooooo damn fast
