Are we to believe in China only recently began using lead paint in toys?

The information you remember that I have seen is so vague that I do not trust that it is complete, or covers all dates, on all toys involving lead paint. I checked our box toys and 95% of our toys come from China! Some are older than others, some purchased in excellent condition tag sales. How do we know what are and are not lead-based? The boxes were bought in are gone, but what matters. Is there a place that can have toys detection? I'm ready to throw hundreds of dollars of toys if there is no clear answer is available. HELP!

Why not contact Mattel toys and ask them. They a lot of toys have been recalled because they decided to cut corners and have no oversight in Chinese factories that also under pressure to keep costs down. There is two places of the blame, companies here and the lack of monitoring and reduction of costs in China due to corporate greed. Peace Jim.
