Do your children go into a fit of rage or carry on in a toy store?

I had to do some charity shopping for the union and had a nice big list so I was in Toy R us for few hours. Every single child in there was throwing a fit and ever parent was struggling to control a screaming crying child that wanted a toy. I must have seen about 30 parents dealing with this…. all different age children from Toddler to 10…..
Is this the new normal behavior? My mother would never bring me in toy store as a child because we were poor and she didn’t want me to “want” things. So if you know your child is like this then why bring them there? And instead of displining them- mother’s baby them more… making them promise of more toys later if they stop crying.
Do you kids carry on in the toy store? Do you bring them or leave them at home? Do you have a discussion with them before hand- that we are buying Sally’s gift- an not anything for ourselves?

I personally believe it is because their parents let them get away with it “calm down we will get you something just stop screaming!” which means they probably get away with it at home.

I decided to take my 2yr old to the toy aisle to pick out a bday gift for herself thinking this was probably a bad idea, we went through it for an hour she finally found a toy but it was 60$ so it was a no, I decided to just go because nothing else “clicked” asked her to go thinking “this isn’t gonna be pretty” she turned around and walked with me no fight at all.

My nephew on the other hand when he was little was the worst fit I have ever seen in a store he went red and screaming and threw toys and slapped his mom…my kids wouldn’t be having a christmas lol.

All 3 of my kids love toy shopping for eachother and they know its not for them and they have no problem with it.
