Should i let them play with my kids?

I have 3 children aged 4, 2 and 6 months and i let the little girl from next door who is 8 come and play with my two eldest occasionally but now most of the kids of the street are wanting to come and play in our garden with them and there age range is 6-8 when i let a few of them in on few occasions one of the boys was a bit rough with my son who is four just and i kept telling him to stop then he popped their paddling pool and broke most of the toys he had just got for his birthday and another one of the lads came to my gate with a metal bar saying that he needed it for protection because he was getting bullied which i told him that was a bit silly and it would put him in more trouble than the kids that were bullying him. the girls that want to play haven’t done anything wrong but i just feel as they are a bit old for them. please i would like some of your views. my son is a very impressionable boy and my daughter just follows in suit.

Ahh… this is why I prefer dogs :P

I mean, its a personal choice. If you’re up to monitoring them non-stop, basically performing babysitter responsibilities for your neighbors’ kids, more power to you. I suppose having a husband or boyfriend around always helps make that easier too… or someone else like one of their parents.

Why not arrange to take them to the park or something with their parents? Or tell your son that he is allowed to have only a single friend or two over at once…. lay down some ground rules.

Its part of a kid’s development to pick and choose who they want to associate with. I mean, if the kids are violent, dangerous or not age appropriate, it might be up to you to intervene. However, if a kid happens to have a disposition you’re not comfortable with, odds are your kids will pick up on that and display less interest. You could always ask them about it.

I don’t think the situation you’re being put in is fair at all to be honest :P Sucks to be the bad guy
