What company car should I get?

Hi, have been offered a car as part of a promotion.
Want to keep the tax down, so will not take the fuel, and want to keep the car benefit down to circa £2K payable (@ 40%)
2 ltr diesel seems to be the way to go!
Want a fun car but also a motorway basher. (Mondeo’ish size)
Never had a brand new one before so would like my heart to rule not my head!
Heart says BMW 3 series, maybe a coupe? Or a civic 2.2d, seems to go a bit? but maybe a bit small? Or wait until the new mondeo comes out, get one with lots of toys?
Tried an A4, didn’t like it!

Well your heart has made a decent choice, But have you thought about a lexus? they are just as fun but more reliable with more toys on for the money. I personally like the A4, but as you ruled it out you may as well take it’s sister car the VW Passat out the equation. The Vectra is pretty good value with top spec levels but is not solid under the bonnet.

The New Mondeo will be storming, but Ford are realising the Mondeo is targeting BMW, so will up the prices accordingly.

Top spec Nissan Primera could be had as they are phasing them out slowly. Also look at Honda Accord, performance diesels and class leading quality and reliability. Avoid anything remotely connected with Yank manufacturer’s as the are quick on the straight but don’t do corners or wet weather we are used to in this country.

Finally, 4 more to look at are:
Mercedes C-Class (Comes in Coupe form)
Volvo S60/V70 (Bigger than all the rivals and very cheap to boot too)
Alfa 159 (Just to say you own an Alfa!)
And finally another of my favourites if you overcome the grille – Saab 9-5.
