How to help without embarrassing her?

My husband has a women who works for him that is a single mother of 2 children. I want to say they are 4 and 6, but not 100% sure. Anyway, they were talking about Christmas, and she said all they were getting for Christmas was each a $10 winter coat she found on sale because their old ones are too small. This is so sad to me. I would love to buy a gift-card to Toys “R” Us so she can buy them something, but I don’t want her to get embarrassed by us buying for her. What do you think? How can he do this?

I myself would love for someone to help my family out like that. We have 4 children and both of the parents are in the home but times are tough and allours are getting is 2 outifts and 2 toys so if someone was to give my children gift cards or give me the gift cards to buy for my children then I would be grateful, not embarassed. If she is anything like me and really wants to give her children any kind of better Christmas than what it will be by herself then I think she woul dbe happy and most appreciative to receive it, not embarassed in any way. You and your husband are very kind to do this. But if the two of you think it will embarass her in anyway, why not mail it to the company addressed to her and not sign who it’s from. This way she’ll never know who it’s from and can’t say no to accepting it. AND….you will have done something great for 2 children and a carring mother!
