Google adwords- Big boys toy?

Are Google Adwords only for the major players or can a small  company benefit from them too?

No matter which product you sell online, you are guarnateed to have competitors, some may be large companies with unlimited advertising  budgets and some may be smaller sole traders. How do you compete with them in generating hits to your site and creating sales?

One way is CPC advertising, and the most well known and well used of these is Google Adwords. Adwords can be expensive if not managed properly, you can easily use  a budget of £100 pounds a day.

So in our experince there are some things that are must do’s.

Number 1 dont be tempted to bid on the big expensive keywords, try the long tails, for example if like us you sell blinds, dont bid on the word blinds, as it is too generic. Instead bid on “buy roller blinds online” as this is likely to be a search term that your customers will use.

Number 2 phrase match all your keywords- dont use broad match as your add will show every time someone puts in a part of that phrase.

Number 3- test your adds, see which ones appear most often and get the  most clicks, dump the ones that dont.

Google adwords can be used by any company if the are mamanged correctly and can bring great benefits in terms of hits and sales. One last tip decide on a daily budget and STICK to it, no matter what, as if you dont you may find by the month end you have no budget left and your sales drop.
