Spring will soon be here and so will the annual task of opening your pool. Advance planning can make the job much easier. There nothing worse than realizing your short one bag of shock when youÂ're in the midst of preparing the pool. So the first leta make a list of products chemicals you may need.

There will be different needs depending on the type of pool you own, so this list is general. See your pool and pump instructions for additional information.

• Shock liquid or powder
• Chlorine powder or tablets
• Bromine
• increase the pH or pH decreases
• Disinfection of cartridges for cartridge filters
• A test kit or a bottle of test strips to check pH and chlorine levels

Before running out to your local pool chemical supply, now it's time to check all hoses, clamps, skimmer baskets, gaskets and O-rings. If a party appears to need replacing, take you at the pool store. ItÂ's much easier to match replacement parts if you have the old part with you.

Now that you have finished the easy part, ita time to work. The first thing you need to get the cover. Get some help with this, as you want to keep the water above in the pool water. If you have a pool on land, divert water from a hose. If you have an in ground pool you must use a sump pump to remove water off.

To get a good siphon started, connect the hose to the faucet and put the other end of the hose into the top water. Turn the hose for a minute or so to fill it. Next crimp the hose a foot or two away from the key, and with the other hand, disconnect the hose from the faucet. Place the hose in a down pipe Drain to download and then release the crimp. The water and begin to reverse the drain.

Once you have cleaned the water, use a rake to remove leaves, leaves and many branches as possible. Next, remove the weight of cover or springs. You need to scrub the deck full and adequate for summer dry storage.

At this point, you should begin to re-circulation of water and check for leaks around the pump and hoses. Once your pool is leak and drip free, skim floating debris as much as you can with your skimmer net. Open all the valves to flood the hoses and prime the pool pump. Most manufacturers recommend constantly recirculating the pool water for at least three days. Any dirt and debris on the sides and bottom of the pool should be washed off. Use the brush attachment on your vacuum for this group.

After all debris has been removed and the pool has been washing, check the filter for cleaning. Some pumps have a removable filter, while others are back-red, as clean as directed. Once you clean the filter, you can now Super shock water according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you start with green water, will have much more impact. It may take a few days to clean the recirculating water. Once the water has cleared, test your water or take a sample for the supply shop and pool their analyzed. Adjust water as needed and maintain recirculation. All that's left to do now is wait for hot water so you can start enjoying your pool.
